This ongoing series by Zürich-based Studio Jan De Vylder invites renowned international architects Jan De Vylder, Peter Swinnen and Arno Brandlhuber to “confess” what inspires their work. For the second boxed set of three zines, the three architects select new inspirations―books, everyday moments, gardens or other architects. In a 64 pages in zineformat on invitation of the Ghent architect and ETH professor Jan de Vylder, friends and colleagues each receive Carte Blanche to present important and significant influences on their work. In this second season, Inge Vinck presents Patrice Mottini's Maison Solaire, Momo Kajima the house La Mémé by Luicen Kroll, and Roger Boltshausen works of art by Otto Mueller, Trudi Demut and Hans Josephson. The architects present the unusual positions with their own texts and source materials like plans, drawings, sketches, the projects are documented photographically by Filip Dujardin, and finally each of them is contextualized by the architectural historian Maarten Delebeke, who contextualizes the works both in their historical significance and their contemporary echo.

DOMa is a new magazine for contemporary architecture at the Top of Design at the 2021 European Design Awards. Published three times a year and focusing on process rather than outcome, it presents works curated by their respective architects, from the initial idea to the final image. In the process of revealing their way of thinking and working, the invited architects share drawings, plans, photographs, collages, models and other visual material from the design process –as well as other references from the realm of the arts- that have influenced their work. The Award Winning Design Concept at the 2021 European Design AwardsEach issue’s cover depicts the footprints of the works presented, printed with black ink on colored paper, that differs in every issue. The cover contains no text, in order to direct the reader’s attention to the works themselves; even the logo is almost invisible since it is not printed but embossed on the cover’s top left corner. The image of the footprint is a metaphor for the magazine’s concept. Every footprint is the depiction of each building’s base, the surface that touches the ground but is rarely perceptible. Similarly, this reflects the idea behind DOMa; it highlighs the story of each project, not the moment of its completion. On Issue 03: – Architecten Jan De Vylder Inge Vinck inhabit the architecture of an old warehouse, as they inhabit their ‘Pussemier 13 – House’.– Lütjens Padmanabhan Architekten point out details of ‘Therwill Terraced House’, from drawings and models to construction photos.– SO – IL unveil the tension between materiality and the urban fabric in ‘Amant Art Campus’.– Baukuh position their ‘Poretti Pavilion’ within the context of an old factory and create a ‘gentle monument’.– Diego Arraigada Arquitectos display the full geometrical exploration, in various media, for ‘House in La Pedrera’.

During the past fifty years, documentary photography and architecture have become increasingly interdependent, blurring the disciplinary boundary between the two. "Seamless " looks at the work of a new generation of European photographers and architects working together to produce images of architecture made from fragments of reality. At the same time, it investigates how shared digital technologies influence the creation of architecture and its photographic representation through images. Based on a series of interviews, "Seamless " discusses the collaborations between Filip Dujardin and Jan De Vylder, Philipp Schaerer and Roger Boltshauser, and Bas Princen and OFFICE Kersten Geers David van Severen. Each of the three sections is illustrated with a series in images that form parallel narratives within the book. In the concluding essay, architect Jesus Vassallo pulls together the treads of the conversations to investigate questions about the impact of digital technology on the value assigned to images, how shared technological platforms enhance the influence photographers and architects have on each other, and why they have often chosen to focus on the dirty realism of the urban spaces.

Architecten de vylder vinck taillieu were invited to Biennale Architettura 2018, curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, to present the project CARITAS as part of the general theme ‘FREESPACE’. This project was realized in a remarkable collaboration with commissioner KARUS, who was heavily involved in the process, and with the guidance of BAVO, an independent research office focused on the political and socio-economic aspects of art, architecture and spatial planning. Participation was the key to this project, in which everyone involved became a co-creator. This publication is a production of the Flanders Architecture Institute and forms a next step for the project, which is continuously looking for new insights in the use of space for care – whichever way it goes.

The official publication on the Belgian contribution to the Biennale Architettura 2016 in Venice. It is a further elaboration of the work exhibited in the pavilion and a contribution to the architectural debate in Flanders and beyond. Comprised out of essays, interviews and images, this book offers an answer to the question what craftsmanship can mean today. The Flanders Architecture Institute commissioned the architects to develop an exhibition in the Belgian pavilion on the theme of 'craftsmanship'. The team, consisting of architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, doorzon interior architects, and architectural photographer and artist Filip Dujardin, explores the question of what craftsmanship can mean in conditions of scarcity. In order to demonstrate this, the pavilion exhibits fragments of thirteen representative projects of thirteen Flemish architects. Exhibition: Biennale Venice, Belgian Pavilion (28.05.-27.11.2016).

This monograph presents 63 projects by architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, the emerging Belgian architectural firm that won the Silver Lion at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. Composed of three parts, including photographs, drawings, and texts, the book conveys the office's positive approach to architecture, one in which they carefully explore possibilities unique to each context. Additionally, a transcript of a dialogue with architect Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, who has a deep understanding of their activities, provides views and ideas that are indispensable for those seeking to learn about and comprehend the architects' thinking and body of work.

Forty Eight Pages is a series of books edited by Marco Della Torre and Bruno Pedretti through Academy Press of Accademia di architettura di Mendrisio, Switzerland. This series collects thoughts and texts concerning teaching and practicing as an architect. It is a collection that shows the attitude of the guest professors who had been teaching at the Accademia. Nevertheless, it is a collection that possibly shows also the parallelism between the work of an architect and the product of young students of architecture throughout the way of teaching of the professor.
